This is another very special book about the power of love from the award-winning author of ‘The Naming of Tishkin Silk'.

When the Silk clan decide to foster Perry Angel, local families are puzzled as to a) why the parents want to add to their already considerable brood and b) whether Welfare actually realise the eccentric lifestyle of that family. The Silks, on the other hand, are quite sure about sharing their home with a person without place - love is something they have in plentiful supply.

Perry, when he arrives, holds a small, brown suitcase with five gold stars. He doesn't speak and he won't let go of the suitcase. Silent, uncertain and carrying an enormous burden of grief and fear, Perry struggles not to become too attached to the Kingdom of Silk and its eccentric, generous, cheerful people. He knows he won't be staying long. The Silks, of course, especially Griffin and his friend, Layla, have different ideas. Will they be able to convince Perry? More importantly, will Perry allow himself to trust people again?

This is another very special book from the award-winning author of ‘The Naming of Tishkin Silk'. Millard's lyrical writing creates a wonderful, compassionate story full of lovable, whimsical characters. She manages to draw the reader into a moving exploration of the terrible pain and uncertainty of the displaced person, yet does this with such a delicate, dancing touch that the story is full of laughter and love.

Outstanding writing.
