Have you always wondered why the Floods live on Acacia Avenue in very-average-ordinary-suburbia rather than in Transylvannia Waters where they were born? Well, here are all the answers. Or some of them, at least. The story of how a lowly drain-cleaner called Nerlin happened to fall in love with the Princess Mordonna.
How did they escape the totally selfish and self-centred King Quatorze, who planned to sell his daughter's hand in marriage to the highest royal bidder? How did Queen Scratchlot come to accompany the young couple in their flight? And how were the Flood children born – or created?
Colin Thompson's hilarious series about a rather unusual family continues with its usual manic energy. His apparently endless stream of warped and bizarre ideas, not to mention really bad (and therefore good) puns results in a narrative that will have readers desperate to share with others the 'funny thing they just read'. Eccentric characters, a certain anarchic attitude and no limits to what can (and often does) happen, The Floods: Home & Away is another great read for those already addicted to Thompson's work or a great introduction for those who haven't yet met this master storyteller.

Gifted children vary a lot. Some are great at sports. Some have disabilities. Children can be gifted or not along one or more of a large number of dimensions. Labels like "gifted" need to be used carefully as all children are different. |
