Sydney - Southern Suburbs

The Southern Sydney Gifted and Talented Support Group (SSGATSG) holds informal picnics in the St George and Sutherland areas throughout each school term.

We are a group of families who get together to talk about issues related to our children. Our families have children in various school settings i.e. public education, independent schools and home schooling.

We also have a Yahoo group which helps to support the needs of those in our group. If you would like to register for this group click on the link below and send me an email so I can organise an invite for you.

If you need support, advice or someone to talk to please contact us.

Come along for a relaxing day out and enjoy the outdoors, chat with new friends and let the kids have fun with like-minds.

ALL WELCOME!

Hi,
We live in Coogee as well (children 6 and 4) and would love to meet up with anyone in the eastern suburbs area. I am in the middle of a Parenting weekend at GERRIC - absolutely fabulous resource for gifted kids. My number is 0406 319 744.

Here is some free math and computer skills tests for the gifted kids to do.

Please join in and have a bit of competition among the kids across Australia. There are a few fantastic performers already doing tests on the site. Be warned, facing the best around the country may make some kids lose confidence.

I have a grandson who is quite intelligent, having just been tested, and I, and his mother, feel that he would benefit from meeting with like-minded children. Could you please register me for updates on events that are happening around the Shire.

Did you know?

"I learnt so much about gifted children, backed up by very interesting research which gave me a better understanding of the needs of gifted children and how best we can nurture their strengths, skills and habits." An educator attending a NSWAGTC seminar.

NSWAGTC Support Groups

THE NSWAGTC has a number of support groups across NSW and the ACT. The support groups may organise activities for gifted children and/or run a program for parents and teachers depending on the perceived needs of the geographical area or special interest need. Support groups can be a useful first point of contact for those new to the demands of giftedness.

We also have a number of support contacts (members who have volunteered to share their knowledge and experience with other parents or teachers of gifted children) in areas across NSW. Contact the NSWAGTC office for details of your closest support contact, or if you are interested in finding out about establishing a group in your area. Most groups are organised by ordinary parents with an interest in "doing something" to meet the needs of their children and the Association can provide assistance in getting things started.
