Invitation to Participate in Research
Are you a Sydney parent with a child who has had a WISC-IV IQ test administered during the past 18 months?
Is your child is between 7 and 10 years? If you answered yes to both these questions, then you and your child are invited to participate in research investigating the connection between children's attachment styles, their problems and behaviours and their IQ.
Your child's involvement will be to respond to a brief questionnaire about friendships administered by the Researcher during a brief visit to your home.
Your involvement is to respond to a general questionnaire about you and your child, a Child Behaviour Checklist questionnaire, and an adult attachment questionnaire which seeks information about your adult relationships. It should take no longer than 30 minutes to complete the questionnaires, which will be posted to you.
You will be asked to sign a letter requesting Page 1 of the WISC IV form with your child's IQ scores to be released from your psychologist. An Information and Consent Form will be sent to you, explaining fully how privacy and confidentiality will be maintained.
If you and your child agree to participate, please send an email with your contact details to Mimi Wellisch.
If you agree to participate you will automatically be in the draw to win a dinner for two in Sydney. The draw will take place at Macquarie University, Sydney, once all data is collected, during the next 12 months. The winner will be notified by email, if provided below.
Please note that participation in this study is voluntary and you have the right to withdraw from further participation at any time without having to give a reason, and with no adverse consequence.
