Gifted News

Come and join in our Annual General Meeting and associated workshops on Saturday 4 June 2011. The day will be held at Jasper Road Public School, Jasper Road, Baulkham Hills 2153. See below for the full program.

CHildren can enjoy one of 2 workshops: digital animation with Digi Ed or Creative Drama with the Australian Theatre for Young People. Registrations open Tuesday 10 May.

Parents, educators and carers can learn more about explaining giftedness and ideas for local support groups.

The AGM is a chance to hear what is planned and happening, and for you to talk about your needs and ideas for the Association.

All are welcome - an opportunity for discussion, sharing and making new connections. We look forward to seeing a range of our members at the workshop day.

Children's Workshops: 10.00 am- 1.30 pm

Digital Animation : getting started   6-9 year olds   24 places only  Come and learn how to create claymation movies. Put together a short clip that includes your own characters and plot. Work with 2 other participants as a filming team – bring your imagination to life!  All materials and equipment provided.

Creating Creatures:  drama games and invention  5-7 year olds & 8-10 year olds 30 places only This fun drama workshop will explore characterization, improvisation and storytelling. Participants will play a variety of drama games, make their own crafty creature and have the opportunity to share their creations with parents at the end of the session. The group will work together to start with and then separate into age groups.

Parent/Carer/Educator Workshops:

10.00 am - 11.30 am.       Explaining GIftedness  There are many ways that giftedness is explained, and this workshop will explore some of them in the context of families and daily life. It will provide you with information about aspects of giftedness that impact on your child at school and at home, and invite discussion about your experiences explaining your child to educators and others. Presented by Denise Wood.

12.00 - 12.40 pm.             AGM

12.45 pm - 1.30 pm.         Building a local support group. Ideas and tips from a support group coordinator. How the NSWAGTC will support your local group to provide connections and support in your local community. 

1.30 pm - 2.00 pm.           Show and Share.

Come and listen to what has been achieved and what is planned for the NSWAGTC.
