Invitation to participate in research
Participate in research and learn more about your gifted child.
- Are you a Sydney parent with a child who has been identified as gifted by their school or psychologist?
- Is your child is between 7 and 16 years?
If you answered yes to both these questions, then you and your child are invited to participate in research investigating the cognitive and social-emotional functioning of gifted children.
Your child's involvement will be to undertake standardised tests administered by the Researchers (cognitive aspect) and to respond to brief questionnaires (socio-emotional aspect). Your involvement will be a brief interview about your child’s medical and developmental history and short questionnaires about their social-emotional functioning.
The tasks for your child can be undertaken at your home, your child’s school or at Macquarie University and can be over one or two sessions. The questionnaires for you can be undertaken in person or by telephone.
You can nominate to take part in the whole study, just the cognitive aspect or just the socio-emotional aspect.
An Information and Consent Form will be sent to you, explaining fully what is involved and how privacy and confidentiality will be maintained.
If you are interested in participating, or would like further information, please send an email with your contact details to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
If you agree to participate you will be provided with feedback about your child’s cognitive and social-emotional functioning. You will also automatically go in the draw to win a $100 Myer gift voucher. The draw will take place at Macquarie University, Sydney, once all data is collected, during the next 12 months. The winner will be notified by email, if provided below.
Please note that participation in this study is voluntary and you have the right to withdraw from further participation at any time without having to give a reason, and with no adverse consequence.
