2010 Eureka People's Choice Award
Voting for the 2010 People's Choice Award, the only Eureka Prize where the Australian public decides the winner, is now open (voting closes midnight AEST Sunday 15 August).
Students from across the country are invited to participate in this year's program. Investigate, debate and decide - then cast a vote for their favorite scientist. There are six to choose from:
- Dr Clare Parish - Rewiring the injured brain
- Dr Naomi McClure-Griffiths - Mapping the Milky Way
- Dr Wouter Schellart - Planet Earth: shaken and stirred down to its core
- Dr Ryan Taft - 'Junk' DNA is what makes us human
- Dr Clinton Fookes - Computer vision for effective monitoring and surveillance
- Professor Chris Evans and Dr K-lynn Smith - Challenging our perception of chickens
The benefits of participating in the People's Choice Award are numerous. The program:
- fits the curriculum and fills a gap in addressing contemporary Australian science and scientists
- covers a broad range of science disciplines and important issues
- provides information about careers and inspires students to continue studying science
- provides an engaging interactive learning experience
- uses contemporary technology that is appealing to students
- offers great prizes for participants
For further information go to http://eureka.australianmuseum.net.au/vote and tune in to ABC TV on Thursday 29 July at 8pm to watch the finalist profiles.
