Scholarships - free listing of scholarships for NSW students...

WE LIST for the benefit of our members/readers scholarship information provided by schools and other bodies in NSW. At present listing is provided freely and the list will also be published in the January/February issue of Gifted. These are listed in alphabetic order without the NSWAGTC expressing any endorsement or preference.

A number of schools use the national ACER scholarship examination which is scheduled for Saturday 6 May in 2000. This allows one examination to be used for up to three schools, but does require that these be placed in preference order.

There is also some financial assistance for gifted children from disadvantaged families provided by Australian Mensa. You can download their information sheet and application form (open with any word processor).

Blue Mountains Grammar School

An Anglican, Co-educational Day School at Wentworth Falls for Pre-Kindergarten to Year 12

Academic, Music and Bursary (Means Tested) Scholarships will be offered to students entering Years 7, 9 and 11 in 2001. Academic Scholarships are awarded on the results of the ACER Examination, a review of past reports and an interview. Music Scholarships (strings, wind, voice, brass, keyboard) will also require an audition. The following Entrance Scholarships are also available in 2000:

• Ilma Slack Scholarship (Year 7)
• WN Lloyd Scholarship (Years 10 and 11)
• JJ Plummer Art Scholarship (Year 11)
• Alumni Bursary (Years 7-12, Means tested)

Coverdale Christian School

A Christian Co-educational School at Riverstone for Years K-12

Coverdale offers academic scholarships for students entering Years 5, 6, 7, 10 and 11 in 2001. Academic scholarships are awarded on the results of the ACER Scholarship examination, a review of past reports and an interview.

The school has a well-established gifted and talented students program with a wide range of options for gifted students and their parents.

Danebank

An Anglican Day School at Hurstville for Girls from Prep (4 year olds) to Year 12

Full and half academic scholarships, based on results gained in the ACER Scholarship Examination, are to be offered for entry in 2001 to students entering Year 5, Year 7 and Year 11.

There is also an Old Girls Scholarship for a student entering Year 7 who is the daughter of a former student.

Additionally there is a Music Scholarship for a student entering Year 7,8 or 9. Select applicants will also be required to audition.

Meriden School

An Independent School at Strathfield for Girls through to Year 12

Several Academic Scholarships for Year 7, 9 and 11 students are offered each year. These are in the form of full and half scholarships awarded to students demonstrating outstanding performance on the ACER Scholarship Examinations.

A number of Music Scholarships are also offered to incoming Year 7 students.

St Catherine's School

An Anglican School at Waverley for Girls through to Year 12.

A number of scholarships are offered for students entering the school in 2001:

• Year 7 Entry Scholarship (ACER cooperative scheme - closing date Friday 17 March 2000)
• Fielding Scholarship for Science awarded to a student entering the School in Year 11 with a strong commitment to Science (closing date Friday 1 September 2000)
• Music Scholarship awarded to a student entering the school in Years 7 to 11 (closing date Friday 1 September 2000).
