"Lizzie"

LIZZIE, aged 5 years 11 months, is a Grade 1 student. Her intellectual potential has been assessed as being in the top one per cent.

A month before turning 4, Lizzie started attending Grade Prep during the school's final term, on a part-time transitional basis. The following year, as an early-age school entrant, she attended Grade Prep full-time. She's currently doing regular Grade 1 curriculum work.

What are your favourite subject(s), sports and hobbies?

I like reading, Maths and all sorts of sports. My hobbies are reading and writing but most of the time, I play with brother, Jerom.

What do you think of school and school work?

I like school a lot, especially the teachers. I like reading and writing.

What makes you happy at school?

Everything, except breaking my wrist, and falling over and hurting myself. I do that a lot in the classroom and at the playground.

How do you spend your after-school hours and weekends?

When I come back from school, I unpack my school bag and things. No, I don't play on the computer very much but I do like doing it. I just don't get very much time to do it.

I don't have a dog anymore. We had to give it back to the dog pound where it came from.

I am good at ...

Reading and writing.

I am happiest when ...

I do lots of nice things and eat and play with Jerom. And when I play on the computer. I'm happy all the time mostly.

I am special because ...

Mum and Dad love me and don't want to lose me.

When I grow up, I want to be ...

I don't know what I want to be yet. Um, I don't think I'd want to ... I don't think I would work so I can look after my children and run my husband to work. If he goes to work when we grow up. I've got two boyfriends - James and Ricky.

Recorded by Pheobe Fong-Smith - the name of the child has been
changed to preserve anonymity.
