Who we are
|
"Julian""Julian", aged 10 years 10 months, is a Grade Five student. He has recently been formally assessed and his intellectual potential puts him in the top one per cent. He has had a normal progression through the mainstream educational system. What are your favourite subject(s), sports and hobbies? Probably Religion and Maths. My favourite sports are probably basketball and football. My favourite hobby is athletics. What do you think of school and school work? I like school. It's nice. All my friends are here. We get to play at little lunch and lunch so we do get these breaks which is good. I like most school work but I find them a little bit boring, like written-off-the-board work when we had to just copy it down. What makes you happy at school? All my friends and all the teachers. The teachers here are nice to you and they don't just boss you around all the time. How do you spend your after-school hours and weekends? On the weekends, I play football. Sometimes I ring up my friends and go to their house. And after school, I sometimes go to my sports training. I go to my Nan's and I sometimes just go for (bicycle) rides. I am good at ... Making people laugh at school and doing my homework, sometimes. And I'm good at cleaning up at home. I am happiest when ... Probably when I'm with my family and friends. I am special because ... I am fast. And when I make people laugh, I might bring happiness and that's pretty special. When I grow up, I want to be ... An architect because there's lots of big buildings everywhere and people see it. And I want some buildings that people can see and I can say "I made that building".
