Free forum for parents about Starting Kindergarten
Wednesday
14 November 2007, 7 to 9pm.
At Hilltop Road Public School, Hilltop Road, Merrylands.
The transition to school raises concerns for parents, children, and teachers. Each has a range of issues to consider and what is important to each group may differ. Giftedness can further complicate these issues, particularly when the social and emotional responses of young gifted children are misunderstood. We will use interactive discussion to explore parent concerns and to identify strategies that help both parent and child prepare for, and cope with, the transition to school.
Who should attend? Does your preschooler:
-
have a bright, active mind?
-
have a good memory
-
ask lots of questions
-
like to pretend or make up stories
-
enjoy creative activities
-
have lots of energy
-
seem to have a one track mind
-
worry about making mistakes
-
worry about the world and/or other people?
Are you looking for ideas to help prepare for, and cope with, your child’s transition to school? Then this interactive discussion is for you… Download the event flier.

Out there, in the sky, beyond the world that
we find so secure is Space. Space is a dangerous place – toxic
to living things. Astronauts can only venture there in a special
suit as protection. In this session we will journey from the
beginning of the solar system to today – a journey of more
than 5 billion years. In the process we will discover something
that Goldilocks discovered –that
some places are just too hot, and some places are just too cold… & why
Earth got lucky and is just right!
